The "3G's" are a simple memory aid.
It is a memorable tag, label, device, aid to remember the essentials. The 3G's are always in our thoughts. By recalling the 3G content, we constantly monitor our thoughts, speech and behavior. They are not hindered by geography, economics or social status. Nor are they dependent upon educational achievement or physical development.
The Mission most move forward. Since The 3Gs are memorable, each Christian is intentionally engaging and investing appropriately in each encounter with people. They are seeking to turn this person's heart toward God. With each Christ follower actively engaged on The Mission, The Mission makes progress. The Mission's progress is not restricted to just the upfront people or others who are waiting for a "door to open," or just offering an invitation to Church. The 3G Christian is maturing and capable of making (appropriate) Mission progress in the moment of engagement.
Owning our own growth, requires us to take responsibility for our progress in Christ-likeness. Measure what matters, but what matters? How do we measure our progress?
The 3G’s (the 3 irreducible essentials) are for evaluating the level of our Full Devotion to Following Christ. It is easy to measure attendance, buildings and contributions or to count nickles, noses and knowledge; and yet not love God or people and make no progress in turning hearts toward God.
Maturing Christ followers capable of reproducing maturing Christ followers, constantly ask themselves, and allow others to ask them, three questions:
